Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance

It is aimed to train qualified maintenance personnel in international standards for aviation industry with this program. In Aircraft Airframe and Engine Maintenance Department training is provided according to European Union standards, SHY/EASA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Personnel Regulation and SHY/EASA Part-147 Aircraft Maintenance Training Organisations Regulation requirements. Faculty has SHY-147 Aircraft Maintenance Training Certification of Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Civil Aviation General Directorate. Students receive practical training in aerodynamics, hydraulic systems, materials, CAD/CAM, computer labs, airframe, engine, bremze workshops and SHY-145 approved maintenance facilities within the Faculty in addition to the theoretical courses. Sixty students are admitted by central placement to Aircraft Airframe and Engine Maintenance Department. A four years of undergraduate education is given in the Department after one year of optional English preparation. In addition, there are English lessons in the curriculum every semester. Compulsory internship period is forty work days. Students have the opportunity to spend the last semester at the Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya and Izmir stations of the airlines in real maintenance environment in the form of a course and internship program in the sector. Students who meet the necessary conditions can also have a SHY-147 Basic Training Qualification Certificate. It is possible to qualify for a license one year earlier with this certificate. Graduates work in aircraft maintenance, maintenance management, quality and technical departments of Turkish Airlines Inc., private airlines and other companies operating in the aviation field.
