About Internship Courses and Processes
These are practical training courses executed by students within aviation organizations as part of their formal department curriculum.
- · In departments with compulsory internships: Internship I is a mandatory course in the curriculum and is a strict graduation requirement.
- · In departments without compulsory internships: Internship courses are positioned within the professional elective pool; completions under this scope do not count toward the 240 ECTS graduation credit requirement. In Avionics and Airframe and Powerplant tracks, Internship II falls under this elective status.

INTERNSHIP DURATION & ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
AVIONICS & AIRFRAME-POWERPLANT — COMPULSORY
40 Workdays
min. 320 hours
The minimum duration for the compulsory curriculum track is 40 working days, executed within an approved aviation enterprise.
AVIONICS & AIRFRAME-POWERPLANT — ELECTIVE
20 Workdays
min. 160 hours
Students may optionally register for the elective secondary internship course framework to acquire additional field experience.
SHY-147 CERTIFICATION TRACK (60 DAYS)
60 Workdays
min. 480 hours
Students targeting a Basic Training Certificate must complete 60 days total within an approved SHY-145 maintenance organization.
AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) — COMPULSORY
35 Workdays
min. 200 hours
Duration is strictly governed under the Air Traffic Controller License and Rating Regulation (SHY ATCO) and includes active on-the-job training installments.
AEROSPACE ENGINEERING (HUM) TRACK
20 + 20 Days
Internship I & II Separate
Both modular blocks represent mandatory courses and must be executed in separate installments of 20 working days each.
MANAGEMENT & FLIGHT POOLS — ELECTIVE
20 Workdays
per selected module
Aviation Management (I, II, III) and Pilotage internship blocks are evaluated under elective tracking criteria, requiring 20 days per assignment.
📅 Course Registration: Summer interns must add the course during summer school or the subsequent Fall semester based on evaluation schedules.
📊 Grading Matrix: Evaluations are graded under a binary Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory (YT / YZ) scheme.
🗓️ Term-Time Training: Allowed only if the student's formal weekly schedule contains at least 3 entirely free workdays.
🏢 Corporate Vetting: Background checks, interviews, medical clearances, and security screenings may affect final placements.
